All I wanted was to have a small pot with a single seed and watch it grow by the window. I didn't want to spend more than a few bucks in my very first plant. So, I went to my local store to buy a Tropa de Elite seed (mostly Sativa), a pot, and a bag of soil. I still can't find too much information about this strain (not nearly as much as there's info for some other popular ones) but it was recommended to me by the guy at the store.
After keeping the seed in water for a couple of days, and letting it rest inside soaked paper towel sheets, I planted the germinated seed into the soil and after another couple of days, I watched it sprout. I was happy at this achievement (thanks YouTube tutorials!). I thought that was going to be it! This very cheap setup would suffice. Little did I know I was going to have to invest a little bit more in my plant.
The first issue I noticed was that my plant wasn't getting enough light, the window only provided a couple of hours of direct sunshine, and the limited light exposure caused the plant to quickly lean to a side. So I made the first major improvement during the first week of growth by getting a lamp and placed it in a closet covering the walls with foil paper. Then I thought, since I'm gonna start investing in light and who knows what else next, why don't I go ahead and get a few more seeds? Thus, I got three more seeds of Auto-Fem Girl Scout Cookies (separate report), and I started growing them all together (see photos and video).
