Landrace grow.

–°hanged Mar 6, 2017
I have been growing mostly outdoors for about 5 years and have never had a real chance at blooming plants indoors. This is the first time for me using this grow tent in combination with my P1200 LED from Platinum grow lights. My medium is a mix of Promix probiotic soil, perlite, worm castings and kelp meal. All plants have been started from seed and may look a little rough due to leaving them in a friends hands over the holidays. I am a fan of landrace strains because I like a more 'pure' high as opposed to an overly hybridized strain that may take you in several directions at once without much thought put in to the effect of the high. I am also looking in to learning about breeding and would like to craft my own strain using landraces from around the world to find some unique or subtle traits that may have been overlooked in the mainstream breeding world.

Welcome. Very good. Are you satisfied your LED lights for so many plants?

I feel like I'm not satisfied with the amount of plants for this light. It should be able to handle some more.

You should watch Strain Hunters! I never smoke landrace. We have only auto ruderalis landrace here.

I'm in love with the strain hunters! ... I'm just waiting for them to release some landrace seeds from their collection which they said they would do years ago. Lookin for some of that Swazi!

Planning on it, although every time I remove a male from my grow tent it seems to slow it's growth to a stop. Still waiting on it to produce some trace of pollen.

Looks like my male plant died outside of my tent. No seeds from this batch it seems, but I still got more seeds from the same batches they came from.

  • Not sure if it's mites or mold but I've seen the odd bit of fuzz, like little dots, almost like necrotic looking trichromes on the end of a rare deadening leaf. It barely happens and I doubt it will effect the bud but I'm not sure what it is exactly. Also my Two Mexicans seem to have started to herm on me. I'm guess... Read more

Flowers are coming in nicely, just gave them a dose of molasses and a sprinkle of Epsom salts. Been feeding roughly once a week with organic ferts (Earth Juice). Any suggestions as to if I should do some pruning/de-leafing to expose more budsites to the light?

  • Seems to be mostly concentrated on this one Malawi. To make things more clear, it did spend a moment or two both lacking in watering and brushing up against my LED so those could have brought it about. So far it seems to be slowly veging without any issue but I did just flip the switch on flower mode.

  • There's a couple light yellow brown spots on some of my leaves. I have a feeling they could be from missing out on watering for a few days. The only thing that may have potentially 'burned' my plants in my soil mix would be the kelp meal. Does anyone have experience using kelp meal in a soil mix?
